@cantinto Hmm? How do you mean?
transphobia
re: transphobia
@cantinto Trans people are cool, I just don't think that anything other than your sex chromosomes determine whether someone is male or female. But if people disagree with me that's fine, I'm always happy to agree to disagree. The only real problems come when people aren't willing to do the same and decide to call me names, tbh.
@farhan @cantinto Yeah all I'm trying to say is I think men are male and women are female...I mean what other people think is up to them. IDK if I'd misgender someone intentionally, that's kinda rude. So I can see why you might take umbrage with what I boosted, but that doesn't mean I condone the behavior
@realcaseyrollins @cantinto That’s called a dodge, Mr Rollins. You can make a stand and accept the consequences, or sit and avoid them, but you can’t stand and avoid the consequences.
If you decide that you are going to dismiss people like myself — calling us crossdressers, or mis-gendering us, dismissing us as delusional, or whatever it is when you ignore the research on transsexual peoples brains and how they end up like this — then don’t be surprised when we take a dim view of you. To expect otherwise is simply moral cowardice and not a mote less.
Its always disappointing to find someone you liked, would relegate you to the circus — and that’s precisely what you are doing. But I’m not a clown.
@realcaseyrollins @cantinto Alright, but you’d need to explain this, because it seems straightforward to me.
“I just don’t think that anything other than your sex chromosomes determine whether someone is male or female.”
Well apparently I understood you perfectly clear then and rereading wasn’t necessary — and the request to do so utterly superfluous. I’m not sure what the point of that exercise was.
Because frankly, if someone believes I’m just some delusional crossdresser then none of those experiences were authentic.
I had believed that we had interacted in good faith — and I choose that word with precision — but privately you were of the opinion that I’m some kind of deviant or deranged person.
Would you continue to interact with someone who held that opinion about you? Doubtful, its highly insulting and more than a little degrading. Neither is the kind of thing I am obliged to put up with.
Do not act as if I am the prime mover of this, you made your choices, the consequences belong to you.
I don't agree with this, but most of the arguments against this ideology are bad.
