Would it be a good idea for an instance to announce all of its moderation actions and the reasons for them, for transparency?

@realcaseyrollins I think a site should publish its moderation policy and apply it equally and fairly (especially when mods are dealing with opinions they disagree with). At least then users can know what is acceptable and decide if that instance is for them. The alternative is that #fediverse devolves in to a network of siloed dictatorships.

@Korsier Awesome! Yeah I'm working with @p@freespeechextremist.com to make an instance and completely open and transparent moderation is something I want to implement...perhaps in the form of an account that posts all moderation actions so that it will be easier for people to follow and track

@realcaseyrollins Great. Shameless plug: please do subscribe to our relay when you get set up - relay.canberrasocial.net/ - this stops our instances from being isolated by #fediblock.

@Korsier @realcaseyrollins@kafuka.me How does it keep instances from being isolated?

(Replying from this account so I can tag @p, I think kafuka blocked FSE)

@realcaseyrollins @Korsier @realcaseyrollins Oh, yeah, I don't think that solves #fediblock, but having a million instances will.

There'll be a CofeSpace relay that all the instances will be on, but I'm crankin' on about eight things at the moment.

@p @realcaseyrollins @realcaseyrollins Yes, I do believe that having lots of instances is a good answer to #fediblocks. The relays are what keep them connected to each other.

@realcaseyrollins @realcaseyrollins @p By creating additional federation pathways between friendly domains. Having more relays solves the problem of federation blocking at the relay level and accelerates peer discovery.
