Are you loving? Kind? Religious? Sports fan? Music lover? That says more about who you are than the hue of your skin.
I dunno....
Let's consider murder and war.
These atrocities happen because the enemies (casualties) are tagged as undesirable in some way.

Most people are loving. They love Fam and friends.
Most are kind
Most believe in morality and a higher power
Lots of people like music and sports.
If a cop kills me in the states, and it was unjustified, and for the sake of argument he was white, the following could realistically happen.
1) I get pulled over and my mind tags him as #white_cop #Police_brutality_threat_actor
2) He sees me as black and grips his gun because I am #$hit_disturber #might_be_a_violent_blm_supporter
I am short with him, out of fear, he interprets this as disrespect, and view his frustration as aggression and then raise my voice in more fear, which he flags as credible threat.
Then his Glock goes POP, POP, POP!
I get dressed, and he gets suspended.
Then while on suspension, he sees my funeral and the 100th report calling him a monster...but then something new shows up.
Newscaster: "Prodigal was known to be a loving family man, active in his faith community and considered kinda by all. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and loved the Red Hot Chili Peppers and was hoping to see them in concert the following day"
Suspended Officer: "OMG, I love the cowboys and RHCP too...I was gunna be at the concert after my shirt that day. F*** we could have been cheering in the crowd next to each other..."
The point:
Until you get past the firewall called Externals, Internals don't mean jack, no matter how much they are appreciated, even in retrospect.
