If you think about it, the same argument used against felons voting--that they would vote for whoever would give them the most or let them out of prison (don't laugh, ppl really believe this)--is much more applicable to cops: look how terrified Mayor DeBlasio is of the NYPD and doing anything to reign them in; they have quite literally bent the law in their favor for decades now

If you're a supposed "public servant" meant to "serve and protect," then we should quite reasonably ask for power to come with responsibility (as long as ppl are fine to let them continue existing): it's too dangerous for them, the largest violent gang in the US, to exert influence on the laws of the state.
