@coolboymew Sounds like it was one of those deceptively complicated tasks:

- low poly character
- had to rework all 100 stages to make him fit
@rasterman yeah I've read about it. Kinda ridiculous

What's sad tho', is that the trailer truly showed how absolutely lifeless and no personality the character has. I mean, nice attacks I guess, but the character is dead as fuck, even more than Mr.Game & Watch

Literally, the only thing I can think of that would be worse is to have the @ symbol from virtually every ASCII roguelike as a playable fighter.

@xianc78 @coolboymew It's not just that the character looks lifeless; but that it has no personality. There's no story for Steve. It's just a placeholder for the player. He doesn't even speak, ffs!

@rasterman @coolboymew To be fair, the same could be said about the Animal Crossing villager or even the Wii Fit Trainers to a lesser extent.

@xianc78 @coolboymew Yes, I even considered that it could be said of Mario himself, so I'm gonna excuse them on account of them having faces.

Steve's texture face doesn't count, when he can't even change expressions.

As a human, I feel more closely identified to things with faces. Like the bushes, clouds or hills in SMB.
