Announcing the 0kb.club

The WWW has become a bloated mess. Many pages are loading megabytes of Javascript to show you a few kilobytes of content. These things are a cancerous growth on the web and we should stand up against it.

We can make a difference - no matter how small it may seem. The 0kb Club is a collection of web pages that focus on performance, efficiency and accessibility.

There’s no need to suggest new web pages for the 0kb Club. All pages that are truly without bloat are already on there.

If your pages exceeds 0kb, you might consider the 250kb.club or the 1MB.club which are the inspiration for this page.

@TheMadPirate @lain I never knew it when it was a current thing. I "discovered" it around 7 years ago or so, reading a yellow pages book of the Internet from the 1990s (another thing I didn't know had existed). It was literally a huge book full of Internet addresses for a pre-search engine world.

@rasterman @lain Nahh. I just jump on the internet bandwagon as soon as I could ( back in 1995 ). Back in the http 1.0 days.

@TheMadPirate @lain I don't think I knew the Internet was a thing before 1997 when I first saw it at a friend's house.

What a time it must've been. Did you get to see what a BBS was? I kept reading about them in relation to the demoscene, but I never saw what it looked like. I think that also needed an Internet connection.

@rasterman @TheMadPirate @lain when I was in school they had some educational software that gave you an offline BBS to explore.
Which was persistent for anyone using that computer.
Which could be edited if you knew how.

Nothing came of that but I had fun.
