@djsumdog @Terry Everyone is racist to a degree but that's ok. I see no issue with a black man hating white people because a bunch of kkk killed his father, in the same way I see no issue with a white man hating black people because a black gang killed his father. Or black people being wary of whites because statisticly they're more prone to attack blacks, or whites being wary of blacks because they commit more crimes.

Nobody is "born" racist, they're made as people make certain connections, whether those connections are accurate or not. You can't tell a black man to just love white people after they killed his family. Being anti-racist only resulted in the racists going into hiding, not disappearing. And as a result, they hide with their fellow racists (most of which the same race, so less diversity there) and join an echo chamber where they get more and more racist. If they were all allowed in public spaces and allowed to discuss these uncomfortable truths, and perhaps debunk some, then they'd be less racists in the world.

@djsumdog @Terry An example of this: twitter. They repeatedly censored conservatives, so the conservatives joined gab. Gab really only has conservatives, so when they say actually wrong things, nobody calls them out. Instead they get upvoted and get positive reinforcement for being racist, and they feed into getting radicalized and consuming conspiracy theories like Q. If they had just stayed on twitter they'd be surrounded by all sides of the spectrum and would see things aren't so black and white

@thestrongest @Terry Yea, the diasporas that leave Twitter/FB/Insta for Voat/Gab/Parlor are all .. well diasporas .. creates a monoculture. But I think the other holds true too ... Reddit and Twitter are leaing very hard-left these days. I think social networks will split on bias lines just like newspapers.

@coolboymew @djsumdog @Terry @thestrongest I think the apolitical worked well because their weren't any centralized hubs for discussion. If you wanted to talk about politics, you talk about them in whatever politics forum/newsgroup/chatroom there was. Now, everyone is using sites like Facebook and Twitter to talk about politics which bleeds into conversations about other stuff and when the owners of those sites start banning certain ideologies, the diasporas are just hiveminds for said ideologies.

We need to bring independent sites and forums that ban political discussions and have forums dedicated to them.
