Fucking this. People don't realize how much of the gaming community was built at least partially on emulation. Piracy and emulation is probably what got cult classics like Earthbound out from under the radar. Most people I know first played it through emulation. Nintendo probably wouldn't have bothered re-releasing it on the VC otherwise.
And if Nintendo is going to go after those who use emulators, they might as well stop certain developers from putting their games on there systems because it isn't uncommon for developers to have ROMs of old games for research and reference. Not to mention developers like Toby Fox who were previously ROM hackers. Why does Nintendo think they can go after an even because they're using emulators for better picture quality but will allow developers who were previously ROM hackers or use their ROMs for design reference?
