@xianc78 Fauci was against quarantine throughout the AIDS crisis and only supported a panic quarantine with Covid when people started dying. Dudes in the fucking Middle Ages were more enlightened than Fauci when it comes to disease prevention.

I'm sure, something something implications of promiscuity, though I could see someone twisting the arm of that argument by pointing out how that's a problem for gay men but not gay women (I don't personally like that argument, I don't project moralist retribution into a disease, but gosh.)

I am against all promiscuity, gay men are the worst offenders in this and it's their own damn fault.

And in terms of risk reduction this at least makes sense, but the vindictive aspect is still foreign to me -- do people "deserve" malaria for going where mosquitos live? I think we both view our human dominance over animals for the purpose of our own comfort as our displacement into nature, why not the same approach with disease? A virus an a mosquito are quite close in my view.
