I mean, new NES/SNES and co titles?

Sweet man

But goddamn, they really gotta stop attempting to sell the Atari days again. It's just not happening
@coolboymew You can sell nostalgia in the form of a particular game style, like sprite-based RPGs or side-scrolling platforms, but it's not as effective when it's a worse version of what we already have. Atari stuff is generally just a more primitive version of NES/SNES stuff, kind of like N64 stuff is generally a more primitive version of 3d games. Games from that era that are great are so in spite of technical limitations, not because of them.
@ArdanianRight depends, I can see N64/PS1 level stuff succeeding to a certain extend

But it's going to be much harder to realize than pixel games and honestly, probably would be a massive waste of time to stylize generally, which is why it doesn't happen often

I'd kill for a Chameleon Twist 3 in the same style tho'
@coolboymew There's no reason to make 3d games blocky and polygonal. You can make stuff like collectathon platformers in a modern 3d style just as well.
@ArdanianRight basically

And modern games with prerendered backgrounds works too

So there's very little incentive to

@coolboymew @ArdanianRight I've been hearing talks about how modern games can still use pre-rendered backgrounds to save budget and processing power. Especially given that we have better renderers now.

@xianc78 @ArdanianRight Didn't REmake on GC did that and it could save all of it's processing power on the models and lighting effects and all?

@coolboymew @ArdanianRight Never played it so I don't know. But even just looking at those uncompressed OOT pre-renders from the gigaleak, they don't look out of place in a modern game.

@xianc78 @ArdanianRight those renders are sooooooo nice looking

The unused ones are crazy too

Love that we also actually have the collision data of some really old outside of the temple too that we had screenshots of (no render found, unfortunately)
