@allison @lanodan What advantages did it offer compared to Linux or BSD. My Operating Systems professor said it had terrible task scheduling.

I was mostly a computer noob at the time that was starting to learn a bit of programming and their ways as an admin in a Unix system.
But I always just love launching an illumos system, 10 years later, it still quite feels like home.
