@coolboymew Realistically, I'd say Crash and and a Pokemon Sword/Shield rep, presumably Rillaboom (Gen 6 gave us a Water starter, and Gen 7 gave us a Fire starter in Smash). After Sephiroth and Pyra/Mythra, I doubt we'll get another JRPG rep, even if I'd absolutely love a Chrono Trigger character, preferably Magus.

Some really hype characters that I think are actually within the realm of possibility: Doomguy and Waluigi.

@ChristiJunior @coolboymew Doomguy, nah - as awesome as that would be, I doubt it. Final Smash would have to be a BFG or Unmaykr volley or something, lol

Chrono Trigger would only happen if the stars aligned and there was a remake in the works so SE could better sell it, and the likelihood of that happening is close to zero

I think your predictions make the most sense. Crash is somewhere in the public consciousness and Nintendo have to shill Sword/Shield somehow (even at a bargain bin price)

Everything about Smash can be viewed on character release based on internal plans or, in the case of third parties, if there is a game on the horizon

@Shining @coolboymew I don't really see Doomguy as any worse of a fit than Snake, and Doom actually has superb representation on the Switch. And for a FPS character he wouldn't have to be designed to be campy, plenty of close-combat potential there, with projectile attacks being secondary and potentially limited by ammo. I'd really like to see them do it, people talk about Master Chief as a hype pick, but Doomguy is just superior Master Chief anyway, with Nintendo cred.

@ChristiJunior @coolboymew I just don't know how they'd pull it off, but: Snake was introduced on a Wii game at the time for a PS4 exclusive launch, so what the hell's up with that

@Shining @coolboymew Joker makes the least sense of all, not even a very big and popular character in addition to his game actively snubbing the Switch. And then they made him fucking Broken on top of it...
