Say what you want about PHP. It gets the job done and it's supported on most shared hosting providers.

Don't say that! They'll point at you and call you uncool.
@xianc78

Hmm. Well. Isn't PHP the preferred language of that robot person from youtube? Maybe the problem with PHP is that it glows too much.
@xianc78

Eh. Not youtube. Amazon? Oh! Facebook!

(Yes, my brain just had to make effort to remember this, and just now I remembered the name is Zuckerberg. Fuck me,)

@nerdman Facebook made their own server language called Hack which is meant to replace PHP.

tfw you realize someone is so irrelevant to your world that you actually forget their name.

I mean I use whatsapp to chat with my mom and my wife, but if it weren't for them I wouldn't have ever touched facebook shit even once.
@nerdman @xianc78
mom's are a special case. i still respect you and your moronic way of life.
@xianc78 honestly, I kinda agree. It's a pragmatic language, and once the nuances are accepted it's a surprising amount of fun.

@troonigger Yeah. I really don't understand the hate either, but from what I can tell, the debate on which server-side language you should use is much more divisive than the debate on general-purpose languages.

I also like to go by the "keep it simple stupid" philosophy, so I would just go with the language that everyone is use to and is the most widely supported as opposed to some obscure language/library/framework that is going to require contributors to jump through hoops. Like seriously, I didn't know what Elixir was until I heard of Pleroma.
