If by centralized you mean not talking to other server. That might be true, but it's not like Discord's any better.

@coin @xianc78 It would be kind of annoying to have multiple "discords" with different sessions. that's why i'm worried. I think IRC handles this much better by not "accounts"

I'm with you. I prefer the IRC way. But for some normalfag who likes the look and feel of Discord. Having a FOSS version of it with all the same APIs and features. They'll like it. The important thing is to give Discord less control.

@neko @coin @xianc78 The Matrix server being written in Python seems to be one of its major sins. It's incomprehensible that you need multiple gigs of memory to run a *chat server*. It's a software turd.

I'm writing an alternative to matrix, but I'm not gonna shill it because I haven't worked on it in a while, but I've been meaning to pick it up once I get some ratFE shit done
