i still hate microsoft employees more than i hate russia
@hj That's a hardcore level of hate of microsoft.

That said I think I hate Oracle the most.
@lanodan i mentioned before but in my dictionary "nigger" means "microsoft employee".

Meanwhile i see Oracle as just a husk of Sun Microsystem, for what it's worth, Java has some great ideas behind it, and I still reluctantly love it.

@hj Yeah, I wouldn't dev in java because that's quite annoying but otherwise I take it as a pretty neat language and platform which is a bit dear to me.

@lanodan @hj Java is a fucking pain. I don't know why my uni adopted it as it's primary language.

@applejack @hj @lanodan You can use Java without an IDE. I normally do most of my Java assignments using Vim and the Java compiler.

@xianc78 @hj @lanodan Never seen it. I even remember trying to look for it once. I've done some java programming and I have no idea how I'd set that up

@xianc78 @applejack @hj @lanodan I remember doing that way back in University. It was long before Eclipse or any of the major IDEs. By my junior year I had started using Ant.

@xianc78 @hj @lanodan Does that give me an object file I need to link somehow or what?

@applejack @hj @lanodan It creates a class file of the Java file. All the imported files it uses are also compiled to class files. To compile to a JAR (Java executable) file you enter:

jar -cf <insert output filename here>.jar <insert class file here>.class
