@lanodan Who even makes or uses nagware anymore?

@xianc78 WebShit is still full of this.

I tried browsing HP's website and got a nagging chatbot which would blink it's text in the page title and then some stupid popin.

@lanodan Oh. I thought you're talking about shit like WinRAR which nags you to buy the full version.

@xianc78 Well other than the web, the software I pick is unix enough that by default it shuts up.

Apple users at work: *gets basically harassed by notifications*

@lanodan @wilmhit That pretty much applies to Windows 10 users now. I can't go one day without hearing the Win10 notification sound and I don't even use Windows 10.

@lanodan @wilmhit On campus, it feels like I here the Windows 10 notification sound every 10 minutes. It's probably going to be worse when I get an actual job.

@lanodan @xianc78 Notifications are ok if used correctly. I meant more:

system update popups (now with ultra-compilcated dismissal)
re-log into iCloud popup
iCloud is full. give us money notification
We should have your credit card in app store anyway dialog

and people want PWAs so random websites can send you push notifications

@feld @lanodan @xianc78 I don’t think this is a problem. You can always block everything in browser. Bigger problem is that I never could get those notifications to work correctly.

@wilmhit @feld @xianc78 Blocking everything in the browser has it's limits and Google has been wanting for a serious while to throw this all out in it's monopolistic browser, so I think we're going to have less and less choices being possible.
