@Indigo I don't commit tax fraud but he isn't afraid to report anyone who does. If I do any side work for cash I better tell him how much I made or he will ask the person I worked with directly.

He's a hardcore neocon and a very proud public school teacher so it's pretty much expected. The fact that I'm an anarcho-capitalist really bothers him.

@xianc78 I get that, my parents are both big time lefties, and the fact that I'm a kooky COVID-skeptical conspiracy weirdo is a topic of contingency.
My Mom is an actual registered Democrat who supports and doesn't regret voting for Biden, they do exist.
My Dad was actually more of a centrist for most of my life, through the Bush years even, but Trump really pushed him left.
I don't think they would report me for tax fraud, but they certainly wouldn't encourage it, we've actually had "muh roads" convos before.

@Indigo Yeah. My Mom is probably worse. I can't really point out her political views but I can definitely say she is really anti-libertarian. She is a Catholic woman and because of that issues relating to poverty (especially in the third world) have always been near and dear to her. She thinks libertarians are selfish and hate the poor.

But what really made me sick is that she thinks The Great Reset and Agenda 21/30 are good things and thinks that anyone who would be against it is either racist or hates the poor.

@xianc78 Yeah, I've heard the "libertarians are selfish/ hate the poor/ etc. narrative many times.
I would attribute some of it to an overrepresentation of Ayn Rand in the popular image of what a "libertarian" is, and a colloquial misunderstanding of her writing on top of that (I say this as someone who cites The Fountainhead as one of his favorite books).
I don't even consider myself a "libertarian" anymore at this point, in part because of how loaded the label has become, but also because the Ron Paul Min-cap ideology doesn't really fit my views anymore.
I'm just an Anarchist who likes markets.

@Indigo I prefer the terms "voluntaryist" and "panarchist" because they don't come with the negative baggage that "libertarianism", "anarchism", and "anarcho-capitalism" come with. Plus, it doesn't imply that capitalism would be the only economic system. I don't care what political, social, or economic system people live by as long as it's done voluntarily.

@xianc78 @Indigo That's a good point really. I'm definitely an AnCap -- but at the same time, by definition, certainly the "Cap" part of it I would consider to be unenforceable by definition if you are really "An". If you are really any kind of Anarchist, then whatever economic model you prefer is in a way irrelevant, as people will distribute/trade resources however they see fit anyway.
