I also see it mostly as a meme ideology that Hoppeans refer to themselves as, given that Hoppe prefers monarchy over democracy.
@xianc78 @Indigo @laniak celtic societies have pseudo-democratic relationships with their monarchs. you don't really vote for king but other kings vote for their peers kinda. vikings had moots, ireland had tanistry which is basically you appoint a particular son to be a successor and the council has to approve that the particular son isn't too retarded and undesirable.
The ideology still seems like an Escher-knot to me, but I guess the idea of a voluntary society based on monarchy isn't all that different from an ancap society based on merit.
I just think it's a little counter productive to apply what is fundamentally a "master" figure to an anarchist movement, even if it's on a voluntary status.
