Why aren't there enough fan-translations of WonderSwan games? I should expect more given its cult following in the west.

It also sucks that most of the good games on the WonderSwan are Color exclusive and I only have the original monochrome one. (though I just ordered a WSC and it should be coming in the mail in a few weeks)

@xianc78 Any good examples? I'm unfamiliar with the Wonderswan library outside of the FF remakes

@Tadano Judgement Silversword, the two Mega Man Battle Network games (they are in a separate cannon from the main GBA games though), Dicing Knight, Mr Driller.

The B&W WonderSwan was only out for a year until the WonderSwan Color came out in 2000. They immediately updated the system because it came out a year after the GBC while still being in monochrome.

Also the neo geo pocket too is mostly useless for the same reason. Most games require the color on there.

Oh and speaking of wsc only games, many of the Digimon "ryo games" are wsc games. By ryo games, I mean the absolutely wild series of Digimon games starring Ryo as the main protagonist (and loosely tying together the plots of Tamers and 02, though in Tamers the way Ryo is written is effectively standalone). While Ryo appears in Tamers he has no connection to the past games for the most part and is written as a turbonerd who happened to go to the digital world first after winning the card game IRL.

The thing is, Ryos overall lore is a total inconsistent clusterfuck and known to be some of the most batshit in the Digimon franchise because everything contradicts each other, while most other Digimon media avoids this by having each series being standalone. The last game is notorious with Digimon fans because of it's technobabble and insistence that ENIAC created the Digital Worlds, which is directly contradicted by how the Digital World in Tamers was created (by college nerds) and the fact that somehow he brought his parents into the Tamers universe too.

@PhenomX6 @Tadano Neo-Geo Pocket is a more egregious example because there were even fewer games on it. The B&W Wonderswan does have a couple of decent games for it but they are either available on other platforms or not import friendly. I have Gunpey, Space Invaders, some SD Gundam Game, Wonder Pocket, and some baseball game. Gunpey and Space Invaders are the only games I can really play.
