@ArdainianRight @NEETzsche @GrungeQueef @LittleTom @LordMordred @Kyonko802 People who remember life before the JFK assassination would probably say the same thing. Same with people who remember life before the Federal Reserve Act, if they were still alive today that is.

@xianc78 I think that America was at its peak between 1980 and 2001, which saw us shift into stagnation. Now, in the COVID dimension, we're going to see actual, very real, declined, in a way that we have not seen in the 9/11 dimension.

I call these eras "dimensions" in a kind of tongue in cheek way because it really does feel like that's the case. The whole country changed before my eyes in short order, and it did so twice so far. It's like waking up after being asleep for 30 years and then wondering where the payphones are. If you took someone from 30 years ago and just plop them down in the middle of America today, they wouldn't know what was going on. They would think they were in some sort of dystopian science fiction novel or something. They wouldn't think it's real.

Remember when you'd hear about someone talking about how their kid got fucked on heroin and he died? Now it's their mom and dad talking about how their kid got hooked on HRT and they lost him/her (and the state/big pharma enforces it). Instead of cops doing nothing to your kid who died from a heroin dealer while giving 419 years in prison to a political dissident in the wrong place at the wrong time, they're actively fucking you over for trying to help your kid who is now a HRT addict. Oh and the dealer is making sassy comments about how he got your friend hooked on it and you can't do a thing about it, naaaah haaa. Case in point; the story of Sage "Draco" Blair.

While on this train of thought, I remember when you'd hear people talk about how they knew a few guys who died of heroin and at it's peak, it was at least one person you'd know, but it was always the druggie piece of shit you knew would do that.

Now it's that you knew a few guys who trooned out, and they weren't druggie pieces of shit but your good close friends.
@PhenomX6 @ArdainianRight @xianc78 @NEETzsche @GrungeQueef @LittleTom @LordMordred @Kyonko802 The fact you can semi-accurately predict which ones are gonna go down the rabbit hole is somewhat depressing as well. Regardless of whether or not it's actually accurate, you do end up seeing things that make the social contagion theory seem very accurate a description. Especially when those circles are guaranteed to go "WOW, YOU MIGHT BE TRANS" over you saying being the other sex wouldn't be the end of the world in whatever conversation that got brought up in.
look fuck all this shit I just wanted to watch obscure anime, play some CoD title everyone hates, mod xboxes, and make plans to make a dos game with my obscure autistic interests instead I go on social media and everyone is self destructing smh.
@PhenomX6 @ArdainianRight @xianc78 @NEETzsche @GrungeQueef @LittleTom @LordMordred @Kyonko802 Soul-destroying as stuff like that is to watch, it's at least easy not to do the same dumb things. Small consolation, but it's there.
I want to film myself like that one guy did with a vintage laptop in a public place except it's a PC-98 and I'm playing some dating simulator game or shmup or something.

Tbh, I'd be tempted to do something like that if I wasn't self-conscious about that and if there was actually an interesting place to do it nearby.
I'm more paranoid about people seeing me draw the stuff I'm into for some goddamn reason. I guess it's probably because I grew up with judgemental people and then online too haha.
@PhenomX6 being self-conscious about what you wanna draw sucks ass tbh
@GD5426 @PhenomX6 tbh given enough time you realize that the types of people who get hung up on that sort of thing are basically children and their opinions hold no value.
@Nudhul @GD5426 exactly tbh, or worse the people who will throw you under the bus for miniscule shit
