Could the FNAF fan game craze lead a whole new genre of non horror games?

Something that has interested me for a while is FNAF fan games. They're rarely scary and somewhat cringe but the gameplay is interesting. What's interesting is that it's created an entire genre of games, these rapid point and click management games. It's crazy to see a horror game become popular and well received but nobody cares that it's not scary at all. Some of them have literal PAGES of instructions with deeply detailed rules like the clusterfuck below (see vid).

But what interest me the most? The potential for more games like it, but not horror/FNAF related. If the people that make FNAF fan games branched out to make other games with this style, it would really make something special. It could be some kind of tower defense thing, or military style management game.

These so much potential here, all they have to do is branch out from the horror genre.

@xianc78 @ItsSkyDragonz of course. We're just not the audience for it.

@PhenomX6 @ItsSkyDragonz It didn't feel relevant even back in 2016. It's just a jump scare game like the ones from the Adobe Flash days, only this one had lore to it.

Kids ate it up hardcore and it came out during the peak of the unironic creepypasta wave. Hence, you're not in the demographic for it.

So then those kids turned around and make elaborate fan games for it and whatnot.

@PhenomX6 @ItsSkyDragonz The creepypasta wave seemed to die down after 2012. The game seemed to got popular because of MatPat.

@xianc78 @ItsSkyDragonz maybe but the thing is it's so popular there's even a horror movie loosely based on it staring Nick cage as a silent protagonist who beats the shit out of the killer bots.

@xianc78 The original series? A little. Fan games? Yeah, still coming out
