@ArdainianRight @rasterman @admin To be fair, he does actually encourage his users to start their own instances if they have the technical knowledge. But Poast does give me honeypot vibes. Apparently, it was hosted on Oracle's servers (remember that Oracle has worked with the CIA) and sites with a culture like Poast tend to be honeypots.

Also centralization means the FBI/hosts can shut it down easier.

@pawlicker @admin @ArdainianRight @rasterman How many Poast users even have alts on other sites? It seems like the vast majority don't even consider checking out other instances or hosting their own. I think the problem is that Poast users think other instances "aren't based enough" for them.

Even the other "free speech" instances (including the ones that are actually more free than Poast) have libertarians, trannies, people who mostly don't care about politics/the culture war, etc which they despise, so it seems like they won't even touch them. But then again, those other instances hate Poast because admittedly the Fedi was a lot more laid-back before Poast arrived.

Honestly, this is why I think twtxt is potentially better than the Fedi. It just being a text file hosted on any web server means that it's much easier to host. You can host it on a static-website or a git repository as opposed to setting up a Mastodon, Pleroma, GNU Social, etc server.

poasties literally are unable to comprehend that some of the biggest jewish funders of transgender causes are also transgender as well. that should tell you everything.

Mainly gaming/nerd instance for people who value free speech. Everyone is welcome.
