@PhenomX6 @devnull @Kaavik_B@liberdon.com I've noticed that back in the early 2010s, IRC was actually making a small comeback. It was mostly through web-based clients and I think it was mostly thanks to the rise of livestreaming as most livestream chats at the time were IRC based.
Then, Discord came along and now even FOSS projects are using it. If some video game, open source project, web comic, etc doesn't have a Discord, fans will create an unofficial one and won't even bother touching what the official community is using.
