After lurking on Nostr, I've noticed several things:

* It's mostly a right-libertarian echo-chamber
* Most of the users are crypto bros, but they are just plain Bitcoiners. I have not seen anyone bring up Monero
* I hardly see anyone talk about anything besides Bitcoin and politics
* There is surprisingly almost no racism, transphobia, etc outside of the recent migration thanks to @verita84
* Most of the posts are memes about getting "zapped" which I assume has something to do with some built-in cryptocurrency. (I can't tell if this network is blockchain based or not)
* Accounts can share usernames with other accounts which makes it confusing

@xianc78

You are 100% correct. It seems really really interesting. It really needs people from Fedi on there. I can't take this crypto shit anymore. It is better than Fedi tech wise and very simple to run compared to Fedi. But we need our niggas on there. Nostr sucks with only crypto bros.

@verita84 I'm not anti-crypto, but I think Bitcoin is done for. It was a great proof of concept, but Monero is much superior as it uses ring-signatures which makes it impossible to trace (at least right now). But at least the crypto-bros means that I won't have to see all the shitty Uncle Ted memes.

I'm actually more politically aligned with people on Nostr than I am on the Fedi (I'm a Voluntaryist), but I honestly don't like echo-chambers that much and I would like to take breaks from politics and talk about my gamedev stuff on occasion which I originally meant to use my social media presence for in the first place.

Though seeing Poast and DRC users having flamewars with the Nostr libertarians would be admittedly, fun to watch.
