@natsock @xianc78 @Breaking911 @ImperialAgent @ItsSkyDragonz Collisions or derailments? And I have some questions about what has been qualified as "derailments" in those statistics over the years. I compare it to gun violence stats fags like to throw out over and over again, when conveniently suicides are rolled into those stats as well.
And we shouldn'5 just be chalking this up as "another derailment". There is clear footage of those train wheels sparking like the 4th of July while moving down those tracks and they just kept barreling down for miles until that train finally noped the fuck off the tracks. This is about more than just statistics
There are thousands of train collisions per year. There were 10,000 collisions in 1980.
What you are seeing right now is the same effect as when there is an especially bad hurricane/earthquake. For a week or two, the media reports on EVERY earthquake, because it's at front of mind for the public. This makes people feel like things are abnormally bad, when actually they're nominal. East Palestine WAS an abnormally bad collision, and collisions ARE increasing as a proportion of all train journeys, but there are going to be about 2,000 collisions this year *no matter what*. If you chimp out over every single one, it makes you look the opposite of how you want to look.
