Tofu scramble

Still trying to get the hang of cooking tofu just right but this was close!
@1ns0mniak just cubed and pan fried super basic. I'm trying to get the perfect doneness temp figured out, I always burn t or not cook it enough lol. This time was almost perfect though
@thegreatape Nice man, what do you use in the pan? Olive oil or something? Do you have to season it?
@1ns0mniak oh yeah I just used olive oil and salt / pepper on the tofu, cooked it all up with green peppers / mushrooms / onions all in one pan. Doing it all together definitely helps add more flavor to the tofu since I didn't actually marinate it (was lazy tonight lol)
@thegreatape That's so cool man, I love home cooking.

I'm going to have to try that out.

I need to lose at least 15lbs. I go kind of out of shape there for a bit, so I'm working on cooking healthy stuff.
@1ns0mniak I love cooking NGL. It took me a while to get into the habit but I'm cooking with fresh ingredients almost every single night now. Definitely worth it
@thegreatape Same here, when I first moved out I was just micowaving garbage man.

I slowly started messing around with cooking steaks, pasta, chicken etc

Now I won't even touch a microwave.
@thatguyoverthere @1ns0mniak @thegreatape they're actually wonderful machines u just have to read the books to know how to use them. 99% of people only olknow how to use timecook. They have insane capabilities I have a Toshiba cook book from like the 80's that tells you how to cook every part of gormet meals with a microwave. I personally love cooking scrambled eggs and bacon in there its convenient

@Soy_Magnus @1ns0mniak @thatguyoverthere @thegreatape I learned to love microwaves after learning how to cook steaks with them (yes it's possible).

@xianc78 @Soy_Magnus @1ns0mniak @thegreatape I've heard people make this claim bit the steaks they've served me had the consistency of a leather boot.

@thatguyoverthere @1ns0mniak @Soy_Magnus @thegreatape There is a slight rubbery taste but it honestly doesn't bother me.

@xianc78 @thatguyoverthere @Soy_Magnus @thegreatape I would think that would be what would bother me, It's sort of that burn edge that I'm used to getting from a grill or pan.
@1ns0mniak @Soy_Magnus @xianc78 @thegreatape searing is so critical to preserving moisture. I suppose you could pan sear before microwave but at that point you really aren't saving much time or cleanup so afaict all the value of convenience is gone for a still substandard steak.
@thatguyoverthere @Soy_Magnus @xianc78 @thegreatape I think it would work but I don't see how it would taste good.

When I do pan fry steaks it's only a few minutes on either side. I have a cast iron so it gets that nice chared flavor too
@1ns0mniak @Soy_Magnus @xianc78 @thegreatape yeah personally I prefer the grill, pan fried, or even in a broiler (my broiler is real fire). Steak really doesn't take long to cook (unless you hate steak and cook it until it's grey) no matter what you use to cook it. I guess the advantage with a microwave might be no need to preheat, but that comes at a cost of flavor and texture.

Grilling takes the longest because you need the coals to get hot before you can even start worrying about grill temps (propane is an option, but coals are better), but that's also where I think the best steaks will be cooked, and if you have a bunch to do the efficiency gains quickly mount since you can parallelize the cooking.
@thatguyoverthere @Soy_Magnus @xianc78 @thegreatape Yeah i'm with you on that.

I can in theory grill but I have to go over to the park across the street and it's such a hassle.

Way easier to just pan fry, I mena I can whip up a steak with asparagus or something in prob around 15 minutes at most, mainly because of said asparagus.
@1ns0mniak @Soy_Magnus @xianc78 @thegreatape yeah if you have a broiler on your oven you might want to give that a go too (although I have no hate for cast iron) sometime. It's kind of like grilling upside down. The broiler heats up pretty quickly compared to the oven because it's just a lot less space, and the rack is pretty close to the heat source so you get something that almost resembles a grill experience. They also make electric indoor smokers I think although I've never used one. Wood smoke is one thing a broiler or cast iron lacks.
