>vaguely remember some cartoon from the early 2000s about some teenage alien
>find out they had a fucking episode about non-binary gender

HOLY FUCK!!! I know that there were some kid shows back then that tried to sneak in LGBT themes like Hey Arnold, but it seems like western animation was trying to push this shit longer than we realized.

Okay, after thinking about it, the message could be interpreted that it is okay embrace both masculine and feminine traits. The "non-binary" character in question is part of a species that chooses what gender they are at 13. And it's just about the kids placing bets on what gender it will choose, and in the end it decided not to tell them what gender it choose because it got annoyed. It is an alien, so anything goes, but of course in $CURRENT_YEAR it would be interpreted as being about non-binary acceptance.

And yes, I'm well aware that Mr. Enter is one of the most hated cartoon reviewers on YouTube if not THE most hated. I just gained a little bit more respect for him in the past couple of years because he did make some videos criticizing wokeness in media.

@xianc78 Hey Arnold was sneaking in LGBT themes? Maybe I didn't notice because I was a kid at the time, but when was that, exactly?

@Indigo The teacher was implied to be gay and was outright confirmed by the creator.

@Indigo His husband/boyfriend even appeared in a Thanksgiving episode.

@xianc78 Huh... Just Googled it and you are correct. I even remember that episode but never connected the dots...
I feel like that's pretty innocuous though, if the show were made a few years later it might have been more in your face, but as it is I'd say it's pretty tame.
