@gabriel I'm talking about keeping friends while having certain principles like not using big tech, for instance. I was effectively anti-social throughout my whole college career just because I refused to use Discord.

I had the same experience leaving Facebook.
The "they're not really your friends" line is cope, If I could do it over again I would have pushed people harder to move.
@gabriel I would love to set up a RetroShare community for my family to replace the need for Facebook, but I don't know if they would use it.
During the scamdemic, I was urging my family to use Jisti instead of Zoom. My sister was the one who objected to it only because Zoom gave her the excuse to sign and dance to the intro of the PBS Kids show with the same name.
