It's honestly a miracle that you can still buy "obsolete tech products" like MP3 players, CD players, pocket radios, blank CDs/DVDs, walkie-talkies, DVD players, etc at stores like Wal-Mart, Meijier, or Best Buy, even if they are cheap Chinese ones.

@xianc78 i like cds quite a bit i use them often. there's a certain ritual involved in deciding on a specific cd for the car before you leave

@binkle I honestly prefer MP3 players. I like being able to load a bunch of audio files on a portable device and just play them in my car. They are also good for listening to podcasts while driving. Doing that with CDs would be a burden.

@xianc78 oh don't get me wrong i also use an mp3 player and they are good for things like that. i look at cds the way i look at vinyl records: they're good in their place as a "special" sort of listening experience, but they have cumbersome aspects that make an mp3 player still better in some circumstances

@binkle If I ever get a CD, the first think I do is put it in my computer just so I can rip the contents and convert them to MP3, MP4, OGG, or whatever.
