The short story "Manna" is so dumb. The corrupt USA would just draft all the Terrafoam people and use them to invade Australia and take all their stuff.

Anyone who thinks it is even a tiny bit realistic that the USA would ever provide free food and housing to hundreds of millions of people has obviously not spent any time inside a big American city in the last two decades.
