Computer magazines included CDs that were fucking awesome. Shareware, demos, freewares and all sort of cool shit they had. My uncle had a bunch of these for his Mac, that's how I discovered cool shit like Snood
There is a huge potential for similar magazines. There's decades upon decades of stuff around, freeware, demos, abandonware websites, flash archives, archive.org repository of stuff, etc. that they could have really interesting CD/DVDs full of stuff that the magazine actually covers, they could have DOSboxed stuff, PCEM images, etc. I dunno, but there's just so much stuff to uncover

@coolboymew I remember getting Operation through a General Mills cereal. Post did one for a Major League Baseball game demo (it was just a homerun contest). The only other cereal box game I remember was probably some Jumpstart game about a circus, but I think only my sister played that one and very briefly.

@coolboymew I'm actually surprised to hear that most people played RollerCoaster Tycoon through these promotions. My older brother got the actual boxed version of the game, years ago, however.

@xianc78 oh yeah, I probably had Monopoly Jr., it rings bells, I'm sure I had it. Game of Life was probably better tho'. A lot of these are shit to play single player
