This was a new-old-stock Kobo Mini. I've been using it a few years with epub files. The notes are stored in a standard sqlite database file. The stock OS doesn't get updates and is buggy as hell, but there are open source alternatives; will probably try some after I complete the two unfinished books on this one. I hate there's nothing else in the Kobo Mini form factor .. even all the current Kobos are larger.
