@ensix@fedi.halcyon-is.land @penny@mk.noob.quest holy shit lmao what kind of arrangement is that
@Pawlicker@makai.chaotic.ninja @ensix@fedi.halcyon-is.land a desperate arrangement
@penny@mk.noob.quest @ensix@fedi.halcyon-is.land this is literally a grade A example of why you hire a lawyer when signing any business deal to explain it all.
@allison@hidamari.apartments @ensix@fedi.halcyon-is.land @penny@mk.noob.quest it seems like a lot of businessmen types tend to take advantage of coders/younger nerds who don't know anything.
@allison@hidamari.apartments @ensix@fedi.halcyon-is.land @penny@mk.noob.quest if you're anti capitalist and not using AGPL V3, you're not doing it right.
Corporations HATE this one weird license that says "you must put the code you use online as well" (LEARN WHY TODAY!).
@Pawlicker @allison @ensix @penny You can still profit off of AGPL code. Look at Mastodon instances like Pawoo or Librem Social.
@allison @ensix @Pawlicker @penny My point is that all FOSS licenses allow anyone to profit off of the software, including the AGPL. There are "anti-capitalist" licenses out there that prohibit privately owned companies from using the software (only allowing worker co-ops and individuals), but they are by definition, not FOSS.

There are also so called "ethical software licenses" that restrict other uses like using the software to "promote hate". Basically making them no different than EULAs. There was a small surge of these movements ever since far-leftists threw Stallman under the bus.
