With the LG thing happening I was going to post something like "use a cheap PC and a computer monitor", but realized that's not accessible to many.
Do "dumb" TVs even exist?
The simple solution (for now) would be to just never connect those TVs to the internet. That'll only work of course until they force you to, or put some satellite phone type shit in there.
