It's a little ironic that Treasure Planet is used as the example here because that film, while very good, was a financial disaster for Disney and the contrast between that failure and the success of Pixar's CGI films (which were also cheaper to produce), is considered a big part of what promoted the shift in focus to 3D animation instead of 2D.
After Disney did it everyone else kida just followed suit.

Iirc it was Brother Bear that was Disney's last hand drawn cartoon movie that made them quit this style of movies. ( The story was meh, and it bombed hard at the box office) Its also around this time Pixar started to release a movie each year and went from cute and abstract to... Meh

@xyfdi @eri @coolboymew You're right, I totally forgot about Brother Bear. I think The Princess and the Frog may have also been a nail in the coffin, now that I think about it, that was a pretty big financial disappointment for the company too.
