wanna set up a public minecraft server but don’t know whether I should self host at home or just outsource it.
I have a spare motherboard lying around that I could recycle, but my broadband connection to the house kinda shit and I don’t know if it can handle many players
upon realization that I don’t have a static IP address, I have decided to outsource it
@VD15 Is your IP determined every time you spin up your computer?
@xyfdi I don’t really know much about internet-related stuff.
@xyfdi @VD15 its possible if your computer is using DHCP and the lease expires while the computer is turned on. it will try to renew the lease which could result in your IP changing.
