But I think at some point there will be discussions behind closed doors or even in the open, between mainstream political parties.

If they try to double-down (or tripple-down, or quadrupple-down) on the hysteria, then I think people will have had enough. They'll realize the sacrifices of their rights aren't justified to "protect the children".

If they choose to discuss moderating positions somewhat (like Germany did recently with lowering punishments for possession), that would be a good sign.

If that happens, on a larger scale, then I would welcome being proven wrong when an "open" party finally materializes.
