"Sex offender registries" are something that is mostly done in Anglo or Anglo-derived nations.
They were tried in some European states until eventually those same states gave up when they realized how stupid they are.

If you've already punished someone, but you then continue to punish them in perpetuity, what incentive is there for them to not commit crimes again?What incentive is there for them to not commit the most extreme crime instead of a lesser one, if the life-long punishment will be the same ("statuatory rape" vs. actual rape)?
