@georgia@dickkickextremist.xyz Gallium is pretty good. I heard it ports the CrOS touchpad drivers, instead of using GNU/Linux's default touchpad drivers. I had a Chromebook and tried out a few different distros, Gallium was the only one that had good touchpad functionality out of the box.
Needing to take the laptop apart and remove a screw inside it to be able to flash new firmware to get everything set up right was pretty annoying, but I think some Chromebooks don't have that "feature". I hate most of the security features on Chromebooks, they're annoying if you want to install a real OS on them. If it's your first time buying a Chromebook, do some research into the specific model you're getting to see how well it runs Gallium and if it has any major issues.
