Does anyone else think that part of the reason "Children can't consent" is because they're never actually taught to make choices for themselves, typically being stripped of being able to say yes OR no until they're maybe 14 or seen as "mature"?

@papergal "Children can't consent" because in a patriarchal society all sex is subconsciously understood to be a sort of rape, a consensual rape, but a rape none the less, an ordeal, because normie filth is so stupid like pigs in a pen that the male normies don't consider the female normies wellbeing during sex and are very rough. That's where all the jokes about sex being terrible for women and guys "not knowing what they're doing hurhur hur (they're joking about rape, being hurt in sex by a guy the girl is too stupid to stop, because remember, pigs in a pen, because it's normalized and rape is ok within the confines of marriage...or it was until very recently. Society has not yet caught up. Still pigs in a pen.) come from.

@sandy @papergal Every girl I've ever known has been raped, so I think it's a thing.

@sandy @Jazzy_Butts yeah, i dont think i ever have either. i can't say i've met many people who would say they've been raped before.

@papergal @sandy Damn, wtf is up with my life, it's like we're on a server and I'm running a dark fucked up version of the storyline

@Jazzy_Butts @sandy it could just be an issue im not typically witness to (since its not unfair to call me a recluse) but im not even entirely sure i understand what you were saying.
If it's the idea that all sex is rape simply because some people aren't very good at it that just seems... weird.

@papergal @sandy Yes, it is weird, you are noticing the weird way society views sex. Since sex is an ugly, nasty, dangerous thing, you can't do it drunk (anymore), can't do it if the ages aren't right (anymore), can't do it outside a relationship or you get shamed (still a thing), society has locked down sex and turned it into a form of currency instead of something fun between two loving people. It's been good on since kings and castles and arranged marriages.

@Jazzy_Butts @sandy OH your point is that society views sex in a weird way.
Yeah, I don't get it either, theres such a weird hatred for it. If you said "Sex can be platonic", I think a lot of people would climb down your throat for it.
@papergal @Jazzy_Butts the issue is that rape culture ≠ lots of women being raped although that's a consequence of it. we don't live in a literal rape culture where rape is the norm we live in a culture that through the socioeconomic climate permisses, excuses and downright promotes violence against women of all natures. this has loads of reasons some of which are systemic whilst others are sociological. one of the easiest markers of this is how consumption of porn depicting violence against and dehumanization of women in some form is considered "normal" porn. ofc kinks exist but everyone should be aware how far aware we are from having open convos about that topic so I'm going to exclude them from the discussion to put emphasis on the actual problem.
