Anti: Children can't consent because of the power differential
Me: Did I mention I was pro2A? Because lots of people can't consent because of a power differential, which is why I want that differential to be minimized.

Consent is important, and the power to defend that consent is also important.

@amerika @rats @Jazzy_Butts stop being a square dude..... you're not getting the inside joke....
@amerika @Jazzy_Butts @rats why would you tell me to go ti an american supermarket chain 🤮

@kallisti @rats @Jazzy_Butts

Have an adventure. You probably have a local equivalent that uses the same model.

@amerika @rats @Jazzy_Butts no supermarket compares to the hypermarche, i only go to my walmart derivative for peanut punch

Walmart is a mixed bag. Some awesome, some horror.

In the US, the people who pretense about Walmart are generally haute urban bourgeoisie liberals.

For everyone else, it means more affordable living, like Costco, Sam's Club, etc.

Fantasy

@rats @amerika Child: this is Anon, he's my boyfriend now
Anti: Anon is 30, he can't be your boyf-
Child: *pulls gun on anti* I said he's my boyfriend now

Fantasy

@Jazzy_Butts @amerika when I look at the world i get pretty existential because it's hard for me to imagine ways that meaningful Change can happen at a large scale

"arm all children" is simple and elegant and certainly would cause Something to happen to the way the world currently operates. I say we do it *slams huge rubber APPROVED stamp on the bill*

Fantasy

@rats @Jazzy_Butts

Most human ideas are delusions. It is possible to overcome that, if we have the will, but it is not going to be what most people want to see.

Around here, kids are armed, sort of. You grow up with your BB gun, then a .22 LR, then eventually you get a real deer huntin' rifle.

It's part of a way of life. As part of that, people learn actual firearms safety, which most humans do not know.

Fantasy

@amerika @Jazzy_Butts i was thinking about how it's pretty normal / reasonable in like a john steinbeck novel to have cultures where you grow up with knowledge & respectful relationship with guns. was imagining something more like every child is given a handgun on their first day of grade school or something

Fantasy

@rats @Jazzy_Butts

That's basically how it is around here.

I'm good with giving kids guns when they are old enough to use them responsibly, and when they are in a culture of safe gun use.

re: Fantasy

@amerika @Jazzy_Butts i think because the original context was re: the way 'having a gun' modifies agency and coercive power of the people around you i just found myself really intrigued by the idea of modifying all of those power differentials in some crude + chaotic + arbitrary + intense way

re: Fantasy

@amerika @Jazzy_Butts reality is just 'battle royale' except its the entire world and 100% of the kids have guns instead of only a few of them having guns

Winners feast on the losers

@amerika @rats @Jazzy_Butts
winner takes the reward
loser takes the winner's life
wildlife takes the loser by night
@amerika @Jazzy_Butts @rats i think i got that lyric wrong but theres no official lyrics for this song and its distorted as fuck
@amerika @Jazzy_Butts @rats if you like metal, this is art/math rock on the first half but its extremely industrial sounding. whole album makes me cry, ive listened to it for years https://hella.bandcamp.com/album/church-gone-wild-chirpin-hard

@opal @rats @Jazzy_Butts

Reminds me of a more frenetic version of Kong. It was a fun listen.

@amerika @Jazzy_Butts @rats theres one band named Kong that has a wikipedia page, but i also found https://kongdoms.bandcamp.com/album/snake-magnet and i think thats probably the one you meant

@amerika @rats @Jazzy_Butts "Become ungovernable" but it's "become child".

re: Fantasy

@violet @rats @Jazzy_Butts

I never quit being one. I just added adult/maturation methods in order to be more effective.

These are hysterical.

Mandatory carry for kids is a go.

@papergal in support of "the second amendment" the right for free people to bear arms (bear - Old English beran "to carry, bring; bring forth, give birth to, produce; to endure without resistance; to support, hold up, sustain; to wear")
