Because they’re psychopaths with a political agenda. I don’t think I’ve met a doctor that wasn’t some sort of socio or psychopath.

@lordfroy @IgnorantHussy this hits close to home lol, ive seen some specialists for a physical condition i have, and while theyre all knowledgable in their own right and dont show forms of strong bias, they do come up with their own assertions that turn out either to be misguided or confuse my family at the time and cause issues for me indirectly, plus like they never gave me a direct answer for what i should do, so i ended up doing nothing

@lordfroy @IgnorantHussy but yeah my optometrist always suggested i change my prescription lenses to something stronger even though my current glasses have been fine for years (in fact i think i need weaker lenses now) and dentists always chide me about how i dont floss, its annoying

Flossing is important. Get on that. I won’t kiss anyone with major plaque.

Phew. Thank the gods… good thing you have good teeth. I’ve been begging my dentist for years to just rip my teeth out. I hate teeth. They’re a bother.

@lordfroy @IgnorantHussy anyway the "do you floss" question isnt even my biggest gripe, its when they do a cleaning after my checkup and just stick a bunch of fluoride in my mouth and floss my teeth and cause my gums to bleed. i'll have to find a dentist who understands that i have my own ways of taking care of my teeth that dont involve following dentrist advice to the T because i dont want to be talked down to like a child

they just balk when you dare talk back. you're an object receiving information as far as they're concerned.

"the one i have works fine? the dose is low and it's highly specific"
"it can cause liver problems"
"so can the one you're prescribing me. also this dose seems... high"
"it will work just as well, changing should be easy"
"it will fuck with my libido and sexual function a lot. those are things i care about"
"we'll mess with the dose if needed [at the next appointment, months in the future]"

just, talking to a wall. it's justified with the notion that your physical health comes before your mental peace with what you take, but fuck, these are not disconnected things. what happens is people ignore you. if you didn't take that personally you' realise that taking their desires into account would have led to good-enough care, instead of no care
