A reason letting go may be so hard is because releasing can be seen as a form of retreat, and in some minds any form of retreat is itself an untenable threat, it must not be entertained. And so self destruction continues.
@Jazzy_Butts When your frame of reference is vested in a thing, letting go of that thing, from within that view, would feel like abasement: it is, at the time, what you know and what makes you in that regard. It requires a faith which is not easily apparent.
