In fact she has to do everything she can to keep him alive and healthy and happy, or, again, due to her alien biology, it would be bad for her, so she does it begrudgingly but always does it.
AND, AND, once she has sex with someone she can't have sex with someone else because of her alien biology, until the current partner dies (and she's not allowed to kill him)
