@arts@kallisti I see all these instances defederating us and I just think. why can't we just get along? AFIK no one has hurt anyone. honestly it's stupid. people should have the right to at least interact b4 anything happens. honestly its stupid.
@MischievousTomato@arts@kallisti I think the problem is also that we look like we carry a lot of rocks. like you calling people fragile faggot retards people see that message 'boom' they are gone! currently, I wouldn't say I like the words you use but I believe you to be a nice person. like people might be fragile but it's best not to look like you're coming with a bunch of rocks. that's just my take though.
@TrellisHugo335@MischievousTomato@arts the social culture in a lot of these places is essentially of extreme unproblematicness and i think that i'd get kicked off many instances pretty quickly for even talking about the things i talk about
@kallisti@TrellisHugo335@MischievousTomato i can keep myself sterile enough to not get kicked off of places but i also wouldnt exactly be enjoying myself and if im being professional id rather be getting paid or getting something out of it at all
this is v much my natural state here and im 100% certain i would be kicked off yes
on the list of reasons we've been blocked by other instances, frequently they explicitly say it's because we allow ourselves to talk to people they dont like
@arts@MischievousTomato@kallisti Hmm, wow that is concerning. know have you ever tried to be sneaky and look at their instances just to see what they are like? I'm honestly curious about what I could learn if I was on one of them.
@TrellisHugo335@MischievousTomato@kallisti in the absolute best case scenario they are like people sharing diy projects/book clubs, in the worst they are just endless feeds of shitposts where the only joke people feel comfortable making is spelling words wrong
@AbNormal@MischievousTomato@TrellisHugo335@kallisti it actually just occured to me that i think for the mastodon side there is "dignity" in cleaning up your instance so people don't see anything bad and over where we are there is "dignity" in never blocking anyone (because it's cowardly)
@kallisti@AbNormal@MischievousTomato@TrellisHugo335 an important thing for ppl to remember in the cases where you could say that deplatforming 'worked' eg. milo, that's because he was a person who was supported by the highly parasocial relationships present on the platforms he was operating on. getting him banned from twitter had a big impact because he had influence on a lot of people there - the same social dynamics truly do not exist here
@arts@MischievousTomato@TrellisHugo335@kallisti But of course, it's trying to move over here too, what with graf and garg and all the others trying to build their domains larger instead of outward, building walls instead of bridges But we must resist We must fight against the memetic scourge that plagues the internet and society
the theory of memetics is that ideas / concepts / notions / practices / beliefs / perceptions (condensed into memes) function akin to a species of life, and experience evolution and mutation
@arts@MischievousTomato@TrellisHugo335@kallisti@AbNormal the only "the game" I know of is where a person makes a circle with their fingers, and if you look at it they get to punch you, or "the game" where if you ask what the game is, you lost it.
