Man tho I will never understand the appeal Christian imagery and theming have for people, I just won't. Even if I try to animalise my mind to the point that I'm not innately picking apart the symbology ("That's a heiroglyph that meant something like "temple", that's a winged humanoid angel to make the idea of angels more appropriate to people familiar with the Olympian pantheon, that's symbolic of the Trinity so it's fundamentally incomplete without its fourth figure" etc etc) the whole aesthetic of it is just so empty and terrible and cold and awful for me, I try not to thoughtlessly and instinctively use the word "evil" because it's so highly subjective, but it triggers my Evil Alarm hard.

I kinda wonder about what happened to this person (from rats' previous post, they fell in love?) but I'll never get the empty light-bathing, it instinctively makes me recoil.

i say this as a person who compulsively exists in the 'dark', always drawn to be staring into that 'dark': it's kind of a lot of brain-pressure to do that

'empty light-bathing' makes me think more of eg remilia corp, angelicism01, that stuff - a candy-coating around bottomless evil that is so thin that it feels like a joke or something, a mockery of the idea of ever looking for positivity

i was raised catholic and i honestly find something powerful about like, taking the face off of this thing where i was surrounded by 60+yr small-town conservative normies & noahs arc cartoon vhs tapes... finding the book of judas, dictionaries of angels, merkavah texts describing heaven in ways that read like erowid trip reports before the word "fractal" was invented. i have a problem, like, how exactly do you pick a system of aesthetics when you find value in most things? so i turned the disintegration ray inward at my own past and chose to focus on that

i p much innately reject almost all christian thought i've encountered in the world and i wouldn't have believed i could make this work in any practical sense until i got involved with quakers. fuck anyone who is about to mediate my relationship w 'god', give me a big creaky room where me and 15 other people sit in silent contemplation for an hour
