A structure is so much more than its materials.
Grind something down, and you're left with nothing but dust, it was the structure that was beautiful, not the material alone.

Even materials themselves are, for the most part, structures.
Trees are made from seltzer - H2O and CO2. Everything in the universe is made from 118 elements.
Even the elements themselves were made from hydrogen and a little helium, and matter itself is just condensed energy.
