Half the people in the comments don't seem to get why it's funny, it's funny because it's contradictory, here they are, characters suffering, and they put on a song that is a mockery of that suffering, and then they continue to suffer. There is no saving or happy ending, there is just brutality and the occasional laugh before going back to the misery of life and dying.
