The reason I compare Enterprise to Nutrek is because Enterprise is such a shift thematically, it's not about space gods vs stronger space gods (federation vs any baddie, Q, Borg, Klingons, take your pick), it's about human beings, flawed ones, ones who may not be perfectly competent, they make far more human seeming mistakes. It took the vibe of DS9 (which fyi was the vibe of an old west town), and it said, let's run with that human element, let's do even more with it, get it through the viewers head these are people just like them, strengthen that connection. And I don't know if they did this for artistic reasons or money reasons but probably, just probably, it's a fucking business, it's entertainment, but that's what I see.
