@icedquinn I like in the original planet of the apes how the apes have a town armory and they don't actually get their weapons unless there's a community defense reason to get them. Ape does not kill ape, afterall. But in the real human world every time the power over armament has been placed in the hands of the few over the many it has resulted in oppression and injustice, wars ugliness is what ends it, equal armament is what turns a holocaust into a war, and wars end, but a holocaust has no reason to, its ugliness is behind closed doors and walls, war is in the open, its ugliness is for all to see, this is why in the real human world private arms prevent injustice. Note that I say it prevents injustice not the loss of life, in both a holocaust and a war life is lost, but in a war at least justice can be found occasionally, in a holocaust there is no justice.
@icedquinn I support private establishments limiting arms, no knives, no guns, no swords, no clubs or bats, but walking around public the government shouldn't be allowed to restrict what a person has on them as long as it's not a public threat like a container leaking deadly gas. I don't think government should even be allowed to enforce dress code in public, what lawful reason do they have to tell me I can't be naked? None. Decency is not a lawful reason.
@icedquinn I'm just imagining old cowboy movies where everyone hands over their guns before going into the saloon but in reality whole towns would have gun band, cowboys really weren't allowed to just walk around carrying even back then. It was surprisingly modern. Sheriffs were regularly going undercover to bust guys for shit including having guns they weren't supposed to have.
(note that i'm not saying i want this policy; it's just one that is arguably allowed by the rules)
